Positive Life: Nutrition and swallowing when you have Parkinson’s

Online Session via Teams (map)

Fri 14th Jun 2024, 1:00pm to 2:00pm (1 hour)

This session will explore how Parkinson’s may be affecting your experience of eating and swallowing and give you some useful tips to help prevent, recognise, and manage symptoms of nutritional decline or changes to swallowing.

Do you sometimes find it takes you a little longer to finish a meal? Or you just don’t have much of an appetite? You are not alone. Good nutrition allows us to maintain a healthy weight and is important for our overall wellbeing. Swallowing is a highly coordinated activity where many muscles must work in a timely way to ensure safe swallowing of food and drink is achieved, keeps us hydrated, provides a sense of enjoyment and is often part of social activities that contribute towards our quality of life.
